When you purchase a hosting package from adxhost, each plan includes specific resource limits. These limits are in place to ensure stability, performance, and fair use across all customers on shared servers.
This article explains what each limit means, how it affects your website, and what to do if you reach them.
Disk Space
Disk Space is the total amount of storage available in your hosting account. It includes:
-
Website files (HTML, images, videos)
-
Databases
-
Emails
-
Backups
-
Logs and temporary files
If you exceed your disk space limit, you may be unable to upload new content, receive emails, or make website changes until you free up space or upgrade your plan.
Bandwidth (Monthly Transfer)
Bandwidth is the amount of data transferred between your website and its visitors each month. This includes:
-
Website traffic (visitors loading your pages)
-
File downloads
-
Video and image loading
-
Email usage (sending and receiving)
If your monthly bandwidth limit is reached, your site may go offline until it resets at the start of the next billing cycle.
FTP Accounts
FTP Accounts are used to access and manage your website files via an FTP client. Each account can be given its own login and access level.
More FTP accounts are useful if multiple team members need to manage files independently.
Email Accounts and Email Quota
Email Accounts refer to the number of email addresses you can create (e.g. info@yourdomain.com).
Each account has a quota, which is the storage limit per mailbox. Reaching this limit will prevent sending or receiving new emails. You can increase mailbox size or delete old emails to free up space.
MySQL Databases
MySQL Databases store the content and settings for dynamic websites like WordPress, Joomla, or other CMS platforms.
Each hosting plan has a maximum number of databases you can create. More complex or multi-site projects may require additional databases.
Subdomains, Parked Domains, and Addon Domains
-
Subdomains: Create sections like blog.yourdomain.com
-
Parked Domains: Point additional domain names to your main site
-
Addon Domains: Host multiple separate websites under one hosting account
Limits depend on your plan. For example, if your plan allows 2 addon domains, you can host 2 separate websites.
Hourly Email Limits
To prevent spam and server abuse, each domain has a maximum number of emails that can be sent per hour.
Exceeding this limit can cause email delays or blocks. If you run a mailing list or use marketing emails, consider using a third-party email service.
Failed Email Limits
This is the maximum percentage of emails that can fail or bounce per hour. A high failure rate could indicate spam or incorrect addresses, which may lead to temporary restrictions.
Resource Usage (CPU, Memory)
Some plans may include limits on CPU and memory usage. If your website uses excessive resources (e.g., from heavy plugins or traffic spikes), it could cause slow performance or temporary throttling.
For consistent performance, consider optimizing your site or upgrading to a higher-tier plan.
What Happens When You Hit a Limit?
If you exceed one or more limits:
-
You may receive warnings via email
-
Some functions may be temporarily disabled (e.g., uploading, email sending)
-
You’ll be prompted to free up space or upgrade your plan
You can monitor all limits from your cPanel dashboard under “Statistics” or “Resource Usage”.
